Time to put some of the best producers in the Hip Hop game against one another in their respective categories. They will be judged on popularity, notable artist’s worked with, top songs, and the FreshJamz overall opinion. When all is said and done and the smoke clears, there will only be one standing in the end. This is a ongoing series matching up super producers against one another in their respective categories.
UBB 1 - Dr. Dre vs Scott Storch
Category: Heavy Bass Rap Beats
Popularity: Dre’s been around too long and accumulated way too many fans to not win the popularity aspect of this battle. With his album “Chronic 2001″ being a massive success and a staple in most people’s hip hop collection, this definitely pushed him to the forefront of popularity not just against Scott Storch but against all hip hop heavyweight producers.
Result: This one has to go to “The Doc.”
50 Cent - Outta Control (Remix)
Notable Artists: Strictly looking at this from who they’ve worked with as a PRODUCER and not an ARTIST, this category is definitely a draw. Storch started out working mainly with “The Roots”, but since then has been able to garner the attention of the likes of Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, 50 Cent, T.I. and even Dre himself. Dr.Dre comes into this working with the heavyweights of the rap game such as Eminem, 50 Cent, Snoop, The Game and others. So they both match up well in this category because they both cover a lot of artists and marked their territory in the production scene.
Result: Tie
Chris Brown - Run It (Produced by Scott Storch)
Top Songs: Wow, this is probably the toughest category because they both dominate two different charts. Dre has produced so many hits for the Hip Hop and Rap charts, and Storch has countered with many hits of Hip Hop and R&B charts. This is too close to call so this is gonna have to be a draw again.
Result: Tie
The FreshJamz Verdict: With Storch being so low key early in his career and not emerging until recently, Dre will slide by and take this match up based on his credentials and superb resume. However, by no means is Storch down and out, he is an up and coming producer with tons of talent. All he needs is a little but of time and trust this; he’ll soon be a super producer.

storch can be counted on to rip the club up….dre produces for the hardcore gangstaz…to this day i can still remember more dre tracks than storch tracks
Storch does have more #1’s in the hot 100 than Dre, but u gotta remember that Dre was producing back in the 80’s and early 90’s when hip hop and rap wasn’t as accepted by the general public as it is nowadays. So, from a public viewpoint Storch does have more #1’s, but that’s because he’s only been producing in the recent years. I’m factoring in all of Dre’s hits with N.W.A. and early Snoop. With that in mind, I rated it to be a dead heat.
